By default, a content block will be displayed no matter which device (computer, mobile phone, etc.) is being used to view the website. But you may target specific devices if you want.
Assigning a content block
to a particular device
Whenever you add a new content block or edit an existing one, you can specify which device should display it. In the example below we're telling YWD™ to only show this content if the person viewing the website is on a computer (but not if they're using an iPhone or Android phone):
Identifying targeted devices
in the back-end
In the example below we have a page with three content blocks:
- The 1st content block ("Welcom eto our website!") will be displayed on any device.
- The 2nd will be shown on computers only. It contains a relatively large picture that we don't find necessary to show on mobile phones.
- The 3rd contet block has been set up to show only on iPhone/Android devices. Here we opted to use a smaller version of the image used in that block of content, so it doesn't take up much screen real estate (the viewport of iPhone/BackBerry/Androids is only 320 pixels wide) and it downloads faster.
Notice how content blocks that target a specific device are identified in the back-end (bue for computers, green for iPhones/BlackBerry/Android).
