New, cool 'Top of page' widget

If a page has a lot of content and people have scrolled to the bottom, it's always a good idea to provide an easy way for them to quickly scroll back to the top. Although YWD Designer already has an option to insert a 'Top of page' arrow in the content area (along with a 'Printer-friendly' icon, etc.) it now offers a new, slicker way to do that.

In YWD Designer / Social media & widgets / Other widgets / General purpose, the 'Top of page' arrow dropdown has now a new option: "Automatic, bottom right of long pages".

If selected, YWD will automatically display a semi-transparent button at the bottom right of the pages whenever people scroll down a certain amount of pixels. When the arrow is clicked, they'll be taken back to the top of the page and the button disappears again. And if you have the "Smooth anchor scrolling" option turned "on" in YWD Designer / Layout / Page / Advanced the page will gently "glide" back to the top.

To see an example of this new feature in action, visit our blog. Scroll down a bit and you'll see the arrow button fade in on the bottom right of the browser window; click it and you're back to the top of the page.

Note: you can also tweak the distance of the arrow from the bottom of the page. That's useful especially if you're using a wide page bottom -- which might hide the arrow -- in which case you may want to to increase the arrow distance.
